Custom water bottles, cups and tumblers: which material, what price, which branding?

Arthur Van Coppenolle, Founder of Sustainity

A water bottle, a cup or a tumbler is not chosen on material alone: capacity, keeping drinks hot or cold, care and the branding technique count just as much, and they decide the budget. Here is what our 62 drinkware product pages say, taken on 5 November 2026.

At a glance

Of our 62 drinkware product pages taken on 5 November 2026, 18 are water bottles, 4 cups, 32 tumblers and mugs, 5 coffee cups and sets of cups, and 3 glasses or carafes, from 160 ml to 1.2 litres. At 100 pieces, an item branded with a logo costs €2.40 to €50.51 excl. VAT per piece, across the 55 pages that detail their branding: 13 stay under €10, 38 fall between €10 and €25, 3 between €25 and €50, and 1 above.

45 of these pages are in stainless steel, 12 in plastic, 3 in glass, 1 in aluminium and 1 in clay. Pad printing is offered on 48 pages and engraving on 41. The minimum is 50 pieces per colour on all 62.

Water bottle, cup or tumbler: which one for which use?

A water bottle closes and travels, a cup or a tumbler goes with a hot or cold drink, at the office or on the move, and a coffee cup is mainly for coffee. You then choose on capacity and on keeping drinks hot or cold, which each page states or does not.

Our 62 drinkware product pages by type, survey of 5 November 2026. Capacity as shown on the page, in its name or description. A page that says nothing about keeping drinks hot or cold is not counted there. The category may classify a page differently.

Here are examples by use, with their budget per piece at 100 pieces, branding included, taken on 5 November 2026.

On the move, the steel insulated bottle 500 ml fits most cup holders and keeps a drink hot for 5 hours or cold for 15 hours, €10.26 to €10.99. The insulated cup 480 ml states 2 hours hot and 6 hours cold, €6.39 to €7.39 engraved. 13 of our 62 pages mention cup holders.

At the office, the steel tumbler 800 ml, with its handle and straw, describes itself for water through the day, €10.94 to €11.67. The coffee cup 300 ml is made for coffee machines, €5.19 to €5.92.

For sport, the steel sports bottle 600 ml opens with one hand and is for cold drinks only, €9.76 to €10.49.

For an event, no page mentions this use: budget and weight decide. The aluminium tumbler 450 ml, RCS certified, weighs 41 g and is for cold drinks only, €2.40 to €3.13. The recycled bottle 500 ml with handle, RCS certified, weighs 64 g, €4.04 to €4.77.

Stainless steel, aluminium, glass, recycled plastic or bamboo: what are the differences?

On our product pages, these materials differ in use: keeping drinks hot or cold, weight and care. 35 of our 45 stainless steel pages state a double wall, insulation or a hot or cold time. This article does not compare their environmental impact: the result depends on the scope of the study.

Our 62 product pages by Material line and description, survey of 5 November 2026. A page that cites stainless steel counts as stainless steel, even if its lid or inner wall is plastic. A page that says nothing on a point is not counted there. The label applies to the page, not necessarily to each material it cites.

Each page shows the weight. At 450 ml, the aluminium tumbler weighs 41 g and the powder-coated steel tumbler, with a vacuum-insulated double wall, 314 g. At 500 ml, the recycled bottle with handle weighs 64 g and the steel insulated bottle 288 g.

Of the 45 stainless steel pages, 44 cite recycled stainless steel on their Material line. Of the 12 plastic pages, 8 cite RPET or recycled polypropylene. What the RCS and GRS labels prove is detailed in our article on RPET.

Bamboo appears only on the cap or lid of 2 pages, counted as plastic: none has a bamboo body. The recycled tumbler 300 ml, bamboo lid, GRS certified, has a body that goes in the microwave and the dishwasher, €6.35 to €7.08. A water bottle with a bamboo lid, RCS and FSC certified, is for cold drinks only, €7.14 to €7.87.

What budget at 100 pieces, branding included?

At 100 pieces, €2.40 to €50.51 excl. VAT per piece, logo branding included, across our 55 product pages that detail their branding. 38 of them fall between €10 and €25. At 50 pieces, the range runs from €2.91 to €53.00, because the set-up costs are spread over fewer pieces.

Budget per piece for 100 items branded with a logo in one position, with the least expensive technique offered on each product page, set-up costs spread over the quantity. Selling prices excl. VAT taken on 5 November 2026, transport not included. The 7 product pages that set the branding in the quote are not counted. A set or batch counts as one piece, at the price its page shows.

The top of these ranges comes from branded product pages. Without them, water bottles stop at €15.64 and tumblers and mugs at €26.13.

These amounts are a dated snapshot. Each product page shows its price at each quantity tier and the range of each of its techniques, and the drinkware category page recalculates its budget example on every visit: those pages are the reference.

Engraving, pad printing or print: which technique for which material?

On our product pages, stainless steel is engraved or pad printed, plastic is mainly pad printed, and glass takes digital print. 7 of our 62 pages set the technique in the quote, and each of the others shows its own.

Number of product pages offering each technique, by material, survey of 5 November 2026. A page usually offers several techniques.

The 2 plastic pages that offer engraving do so on their bamboo lid.

At 100 pieces, set-up costs spread, our published ranges run per piece from €0.64 to €1.37 in pad printing, from €0.65 to €1.65 engraved, from €0.81 to €2.97 in digital print, from €1.41 to €2.27 in screen printing and from €1.77 to €2.34 in doming.

The size of the area depends on the page and the technique. On the steel sports bottle 600 ml, engraving fits in 25 × 100 mm, pad printing in 25 × 80 mm, screen printing in 200 × 140 mm and digital print in 207 × 160 mm. On the coffee cup 300 ml, engraving fits in 25 × 50 mm and pad printing in 20 × 40 mm. On these pages, engraving and screen printing are in 1 colour.

For a garment, the choice follows another logic, that of quantity: see embroidery or screen printing.

What minimum quantity and what lead time?

The minimum is 50 pieces per colour on our 62 drinkware product pages, with no exception on 5 November 2026. Our indicative lead time is 12 to 25 working days, transport included, from your approval of the mock-up, and it is confirmed in your quote.

The quote goes out within 24 hours on business days, and the mock-up within 24 hours on business days after we receive your logo. The minimum applies per colour: two colours take 50 pieces each.

For delivery before the holidays, the dates are worked out in our article on corporate year-end gifts.
